Trauma-Informed CoachingWhat Is Trauma-Informed Coaching?
Support that asks “What happened?” before “What’s wrong?”
Trauma-informed coaching recognizes that the ways you think, respond, protect yourself, relate to others, and move through the world may have been shaped by what you’ve lived through.
Sometimes the things you criticize yourself for were once ways you learned to cope, adapt, or stay safe.
Second-guessing yourself. Avoiding conflict. Struggling to say no. Staying constantly busy. Feeling responsible for everyone else. Disconnecting from your own needs. Having a hard time trusting yourself when something finally feels calm.
Instead of treating those patterns like personal failures, trauma-informed coaching approaches them with curiosity, compassion, and context.
The question becomes less:
“Why am I like this?”
and more:
“What did I learn to do to survive—and what do I want to choose now?”
This Isn’t About Reliving Your Story
You do not have to tell me every detail of what happened to you.
You don’t have to prove that something was “bad enough.” You don’t have to revisit painful experiences before you’re ready. And you don’t need a diagnosis or even a perfect explanation for why you feel the way you do.
We can begin with what is happening now.
Maybe you don’t trust your own decisions anymore.
Maybe boundaries make you feel guilty.
Maybe chronic illness changed the way you see yourself.
Maybe you’ve spent years caring for everyone around you and have no idea what you actually want.
Maybe the crisis is technically over—but your mind and body haven’t gotten that message yet.
Or maybe you simply know:
I don’t want to keep living this way.
That’s somewhere to start.
What We Might Work On
Our work is shaped around you, not a predetermined formula.
Depending on what brings you to Kindlewild, we may explore self-trust, boundaries, identity, patterns developed during survival, reconnecting with your wants and needs, guilt and people-pleasing, difficult transitions, grounding practices, decision-making, or what you want your life to look like moving forward.
The goal isn’t to make you dependent on someone else’s answers.
It’s to help you hear your own again.
What Does a Session Look Like?
There is no couch, clipboard, or expectation that you arrive with a perfectly organized story.
We begin with where you are today.
You might bring a specific situation you want to work through. We might notice a recurring pattern. We may explore a boundary you’re struggling to hold, untangle a decision you’ve been second-guessing, or use reflection and grounding practices when everything simply feels like too much.
Some sessions may feel deep.
Others may be practical.
Sometimes the most useful question may simply be:
“What do you need right now?”
Coaching vs. Therapy
They can complement one another, but they aren’t the same thing.
Trauma-informed coaching is not psychotherapy or mental-health treatment.
I do not diagnose or treat mental-health conditions through Kindlewild, and coaching is not intended to replace care from a licensed mental-health professional when that level of support is needed.
Therapy may involve diagnosing and treating mental-health conditions, processing trauma clinically, or addressing significant psychological symptoms.
My coaching work focuses primarily on the present and what comes next:
Understanding patterns.
Rebuilding self-trust.
Practicing boundaries.
Reconnecting with identity.
Clarifying what you want.
Creating meaningful, realistic change.
And if something comes up that falls outside the scope of coaching, I will be transparent about that.
My Approach
I bring together my training as a Trauma-Informed Coach, my professional background as an LPN, my training in restorative practices, and—perhaps most importantly—the perspective that comes from having lived through seasons that changed me, too.
But my experience isn’t your blueprint.
I’m not here to tell you exactly what you should do.
I’m here to ask questions, help you notice what’s happening underneath the surface, offer tools and perspective, and create a space where you don’t have to perform, defend, or explain yourself.
Because the goal isn’t for you to become better at listening to me.
The goal is for you to become better at listening to
yourself.
You Are Not a Problem to Solve
Kindlewild isn’t built around fixing you.
It’s about recognizing what helped you survive, deciding what still belongs in your life, and giving yourself permission to put down what doesn’t.
You may have been changed by what you’ve lived through.
That doesn’t mean the rest of your story has already been written.
**Reclaim your voice.
Reconnect with yourself.
Become who you choose to be next.**
Reclaim. Reconnect. Become.
